The last years I mostly use zip off hiking pants for travelling. However, I wonder whether there is a more decent looking variant that works well for hiking and in the city.
Requirements:
- Jeans-like smart casual look: Acceptable for business meetings
- No cotton: When used for hiking in humid and rainy environments the material should be fast drying. I saw some nice cotton like looking synthetic fabric with a light rip stop webbing. Something like that would be ideal
- Thin and airy: Again fast drying and also light. If I come to colder environments I’d rather combine it with long underwear then having to carry thick pants
- No ironing required: Like jeans, it should have a decent look without the need to iron it
- No seamed but secure pockets: Seamed pockets are comfy and you can use it to keep your hands warm while walking, however, there are not suitable for travelling. With seamed pockets, I had things falling out randomly several times, and I was targeting by pickpockets. Pockets should be reasonable deep and secure
